Indian electric vehicle manufacturer Ola Electric has commenced customer deliveries of its most affordable electric scooter yet, the S1X. The first units have now rolled out from Ola’s state-of-the-art FutureFactory in Bengaluru, signaling the start of a new era of accessible electric two-wheeler transportation in India.
Ola S1X Launch and Pre-Orders
The S1X was first unveiled in August 2022 at a starting price of just ₹79,999, making it Ola Electric’s most competitively priced model yet. It comes in three variants with 2 kWh or 3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack options to suit different range requirements.
Even before its official launch, Ola Electric claims the S1X had already garnered over 75,000 pre-launch bookings, highlighting the strong customer appetite for affordable yet feature-rich electric scooters.
S1X Range and Charging
The top-spec S1X with 3 kWh battery pack offers a healthy range up to 151 km on a single full charge, as per official figures. This makes it practical for daily urban commutes plus weekend getaways.
Charging the batteries from empty to full takes around 7 hours 40 minutes with the bundled portable charger. Faster charging options will further improve convenience for customers down the road.
S1X Performance and Specifications
Powering the zippy S1X is a 6 kW electric motor producing 8.04 hp max power. On the 3 kWh model, this motor can propel the scooter from 0-40 kmph in just 3.3 quick seconds and hit a top speed of 90 kmph.
The S1X comes equipped with telescopic front suspension and twin rear shock absorbers for comfortable ride quality even on uneven roads. Braking duties are handled by drum brakes at both ends.
Distinct Styling and Practicality of S1X
Visually, the S1X stands out with its own unique styling including a revised front cowl, circular mirrors, digital display panel, and steel wheels. The under-seat storage can swallow a full-face helmet and has a flat floor for added practicality.
The S1X is Ola Electric’s first model to use the company’s new MoveOS software platform. This connects the scooter to the user’s phone and enables smart features like navigation, remote boot access, and vehicle health monitoring.
